2003 to 2013 Ford vehicles equipped with the 5R110W automatic transmission often have damaged pressure switch diaphragms as well as a broken dummy plug resulting in slip complaints and solenoid performance codes.
Early valve bodies contained five pressure switches that were never used or monitored by the computer. In later valve bodies, the switches were removed except for the one in the direct clutch circuit which now uses a plastic dummy plug. With the excessive high line pressure problems that plagues these units the switches as well as the plastic dummy plug often fail and create hydraulic leaks in the circuit.
